Bathroom cleaning service in Romford – limescale and grout - Cleaning Romford

Bathroom Cleaning Service in Romford (RM)

Limescale crusted around the taps, grout turning grey and a shower screen you can’t see through anymore. Bathrooms usually wear people down first. Our bathroom cleaning service in Romford covers family homes, rented flats and small business washrooms across RM. It’s carried out by vetted, insured cleaners who know which product each surface can take. Send us a few photos or give us a ring, and we’ll put together a free, no-obligation quote.

What we clean in a bathroom

Toilet, shower, bath and basin

  • Toilet: bowl and under the rim, seat and hinges, cistern, flush handle, the base of the pan and the floor behind it, where dust and splashes collect.
  • Basin: bowl, overflow, plug and waste, taps and the splashback behind them.
  • Bath: inside, rim, taps, bath panel, and the sealant line along the wall.
  • Shower: tray, enclosure walls, screen or door, runners, seals, hose and the outside of the shower head.

Everything that’s touched daily gets a suitable bathroom cleaner. It’s left on for the contact time the label specifies, then rinsed or wiped off. That’s how you sanitise a toilet, shower and sink properly. A quick spray and wipe straight away doesn’t do it.

Limescale on taps, glass and shower heads

Romford has hard water, so scale builds up quickly. A light film wipes away. The thick white crust around tap bases, plug holes and screen edges needs a descaler left to dwell, then gentle agitation and a thorough rinse. On heavy build-up, that can take more than one application.

We’ll descale a shower head that unscrews easily. If it’s seized, we’ll leave it in place and clean what we can reach. Glass that has been etched by years of scale looks cloudy even when it’s clean, and no cleaning product can reverse that.

Tiles and grout

Wall tiles and floor tiles are washed down, paying attention to the corners and the lower rows, where soap splash dries on. During a deeper clean we scrub grout lines by hand with a stiff brush. That’s what lifts the grey film a mop leaves behind.

Grout that’s stained all the way through, cracked or crumbling won’t come back to white. That’s a job for regrouting, and we’ll tell you honestly if we think that’s where you are.

The rest of the room

Mirrors and cabinet fronts, shelves, towel rail or radiator, light switches and pull cords, the extractor fan grille, door and handle, window sill, skirting, the bin, and the floor right into the edges.

Routine visit, deep clean or moving out?

A routine bathroom clean keeps things under control. It works through an agreed priorities list on each visit, and it’s often part of regular cleaning for the whole house.

If the bathroom has been left for a while, a deep clean gives us time for full grout scrubbing, heavy limescale, sealant lines and the places behind the pan and under the bath panel lip.

Leaving a rental? Bathrooms are among the first places inventory clerks check. Book them as part of end of tenancy cleaning so we can work to the agent’s checklist. Cleaning can’t fix chipped enamel or split sealant, and no cleaner can promise a deposit outcome.

Mould in the bathroom: what cleaning can and can’t do

Surface mould on grout, sealant and ceiling corners can usually be treated. We use a suitable product with the window open or the fan running, let it work, and remove the visible growth. Black spots that have grown inside silicone sealant normally won’t lift, because the staining is below the surface. Resealing is the fix for that.

Mould that keeps coming back is telling you something. Common causes we see in Romford homes are:

  • an extractor fan that runs but barely pulls air
  • windowless en-suites in flats that rely on the fan alone
  • towels drying in the room with the door shut
  • a slow leak behind tiles or under the tray

If a wall feels damp, the paint is bubbling, or the patch keeps spreading, that needs a plumber, surveyor or landlord, not a cleaner. If you have an older textured ceiling, we’ll wipe it gently but won’t scrape or sand it, because older textured coatings can contain asbestos. Let us know about asthma or other health concerns before the visit so we can pick products accordingly. We won’t claim to make a room allergen-free.

Extras we agree before the visit

These aren’t included automatically. We price them separately so everyone knows what’s in scope:

  • full-wall grout scrubbing across a large tiled room
  • heavy limescale restoration on screens and enclosures
  • mould treatment on ceilings or large areas
  • inside cabinets and vanity units (these need emptying first)
  • high-level work above standard reach
  • external window cleaning
  • sanitary bin servicing in business washrooms, which usually needs a specialist contract

How booking a bathroom clean works

  1. Tell us what you’ve got. Number of bathrooms, en-suites and separate toilets, plus photos of the problem areas. Mention any marble, natural stone, or brushed or coloured taps.
  2. We agree the checklist and quote. You’ll see exactly which tasks are included and the price before anything starts.
  3. We sort out access. Keys, a code, a neighbour, or you at home. We’ll also ask about parking.
  4. We clean. We bring the products, cloths and equipment unless you’d prefer we use yours.
  5. We check the work. Before we leave, we go back over the agreed list. If something in scope has been missed, get in touch promptly and we’ll arrange to put it right. We’ll confirm how re-cleans work when you book.

Before we arrive: clear toiletries off the bath edge and window sill, put razors and medicines away, and tell us about any pets. We handle everything else.

What changes the price

  • the number and size of bathrooms
  • how much limescale, soap scum and mould there is
  • routine visit or deep clean
  • how often we come
  • extras such as grout scrubbing or inside cabinets
  • surfaces that need specialist products
  • access and parking

Our pricing page explains how quotes are put together. Photos help us get it right first time.

Doing it properly

  • Separate cloths. Toilet cloths never touch the basin, bath or kitchen. We colour-code them so there’s no guessing.
  • The right product for the surface. Acid descalers etch marble, travertine and limestone, so natural stone gets a pH-neutral cleaner.
  • Test patches. Matt black, brushed brass and gold-tone taps can lose their finish with harsh descalers. We test somewhere hidden first.
  • No mixing. Bleach-based products never go near acidic descalers. We rinse between steps.
  • Gentle on acrylic. Acrylic baths and trays scratch easily, so we don’t use scourers or abrasive creams on them.
  • Safe for the next person in. Surfaces are rinsed so nothing is left behind for the kids’ bath time. Eco-friendly products are available on request, checked against each surface.

Bathrooms around Romford

The work varies across RM. Older semis around Gidea Park and Harold Wood often have tired grout and decades of scale on original fittings. Newer flats near the town centre tend to have windowless en-suites, where mould is the main battle.

For homes near the station or town centre, tell us about permit zones or visitor parking. If you run a shop, salon or office, we can arrange washroom cleaning around your opening hours, depending on availability.

What customers say

“The shower screen had been cloudy for so long I assumed it was ruined. It wasn’t. They also told me straight that the sealant needed replacing rather than pretending it would come clean.” Lauren T., Gidea Park, bathroom deep clean

“Two bathrooms and a downstairs loo before our inventory check. The grout looked properly scrubbed, and the agent didn’t mention the bathrooms at all.” Daniel O., Collier Row, end of tenancy bathroom clean

“Left the key with my neighbour, and it was all done when I got home. Taps actually shine now.” Margaret H., Harold Hill, bathroom cleaning

“We have a marble vanity and I was nervous. They asked about it before booking and used a different product on it. Good communication throughout.” Asif R., Hornchurch, bathroom cleaning

Bathroom cleaning FAQs

Can you get rid of black mould for good? No cleaner can promise that. We can remove visible surface mould, but if the cause is poor ventilation or a leak, it will return until that’s fixed.

Will my grout look new again? Usually it’ll look much brighter after hand scrubbing. Grout that’s stained right through or cracked won’t fully recover and may need regrouting.

Do you bring your own products? Yes, we bring products and equipment unless we’ve agreed otherwise. Tell us if you’d like eco-friendly options or have products you prefer.

Can you remove limescale from a glass shower screen? Yes, in most cases. Heavy build-up may take several applications. Glass that’s been etched by old scale will stay slightly cloudy.

Do you clean behind the toilet? Yes. The pan base, the floor behind it and the pipework we can reach are all on our checklist.

Can I book just the bathroom? Yes. Plenty of people in Romford book a single bathroom deep clean, or add bathrooms to a wider clean.

Is a bathroom cleaning checklist available? Yes. We agree a room-by-room list with you before the visit, so you know exactly what’s included.
