Window Cleaning in Romford (RM)
Grubby glass makes a freshly cleaned room look tired, and smears always show up when the low sun hits, usually just as the agent, the buyer or your guests arrive. Our window cleaning in Romford covers glass, frames, sills and tracks for houses, flats, shops and offices across RM postcodes. Outside panes can be added where we can reach them safely. Call us or send a few photos and we’ll come back with a clear, no-obligation quote.
What we clean on a window visit
We start with what you can see and touch, then work into the bits that hold the dirt. A standard visit can include:
- Glass on the inside face, cleaned and finished with a squeegee or dry microfibre for a streak-free result
- Frames, including the top edges where dust and cobwebs settle unnoticed
- Sills, cleared of dead flies, plant-pot rings, condensation marks and the grey film that builds up in corners
- Tracks and runners on sliding patio doors and tilt-and-turn windows, vacuumed first and then wiped, with drainage slots cleared of grit where we can reach them
- Handles, locks and hinges, wiped and dried
- Internal glass in doors, porches and conservatory interiors, if you’d like it included
- Mirrors and glass splashbacks, when you want everything shining at once
We agree the list before we start, so you know exactly which windows and which surfaces are covered.
Interior window cleaning only
Plenty of Romford customers already have someone doing the outside and just need the inside done properly. That’s common in flats, where the building’s management arranges exterior glass. Ask for inside only and we’ll quote for exactly that.
Outside glass
We can include ground-floor exterior windows, plus upper windows that open fully inwards so both faces can be cleaned from inside. We’ll confirm what we can reach safely when we quote. Higher exterior glass, roof lanterns, skylights and conservatory roofs are quoted separately and sometimes need a specialist exterior window cleaner. If that’s the case, we’ll say so plainly.
Adding windows to a deep clean or move-out
Windows are one of the first things an inventory clerk looks at. Check-out reports regularly mention dusty tracks, marked sills and smeared glass, especially in rooms that get plenty of light. Adding windows to a deep clean or an end of tenancy clean means the whole property is finished to the same standard on the same day.
For tenancy work, send us the inventory or the agent’s cleaning requirements and we’ll build the window tasks into the room-by-room checklist. We can’t repair wear and tear, and no cleaner can promise a deposit outcome, but we can make sure the glass, frames and tracks aren’t the reason for a note on the report.
When cleaning won’t fix the problem
Some window issues look like dirt but aren’t. We’ll tell you when we spot one rather than charging you to scrub at it:
- Misting or droplets between the panes. The sealed unit has failed. Only a glazier can fix it.
- Scratches, etching or hazy patches that stay after cleaning. These are often in the glass itself, sometimes from old hard-water damage or a previous scraper.
- Black mould that keeps coming back in sill corners or on silicone. We’ll clean the surface, but if it returns within weeks it’s a condensation or ventilation problem, and perished silicone needs replacing.
- Flaking paint or soft timber on older sash windows. We clean gently around it and won’t strip or sand.
- Yellowed uPVC. Cleaning removes grime but not sun discolouration.
- Stiff hinges, broken locks or blown handles. We’ll flag them, but they’re a job for a window repairer.
How booking a window clean works
- Tell us about the windows. Roughly how many, what type (bay, sash, tilt-and-turn, sliding doors), which floors, and whether you want inside only or inside and outside. Photos help a lot.
- We agree the checklist and price. You’ll get a quote covering the scope and any extras before anything is booked.
- We sort out access. Keys, parking, building entry codes or concierge arrangements are agreed in advance, along with arrival time.
- We clean. We bring our own cloths, squeegees, products and a vacuum for the tracks. We just need access to a tap.
- We check our work. We finish with a walk round against the agreed tasks, looking at the glass from different angles. If something in scope has been missed, contact us promptly and we’ll arrange to put it right. We’ll confirm how that works when you book.
What helps on the day: clear ornaments, photo frames and plants off the sills, and open curtains and blinds. We can move light furniture away from windows, but tell us about anything heavy, fragile or valuable.
What changes the price of window cleaning
Every quote is based on the actual job, and the price is agreed upfront. The main factors are:
- Number and size of windows, and how many panes. Georgian-bar and leaded-light windows take far longer than a single large pane.
- Condition. A first clean after a couple of years, or after building work, takes longer than a maintenance visit.
- Inside only, or inside and out.
- Tracks and runners. Sliding doors packed with grit and leaves add time.
- Access. Stairs without a lift, restricted parking or windows blocked by furniture all count.
- Frequency. Regular visits are usually quicker because the dirt never gets a chance to build up.
- Combining services. Booking windows alongside another clean can be the most efficient way to do it.

Homes, flats and shopfronts around Romford
Window cleaning here covers a real mix of properties. Older terraces often have timber sashes that need a gentle touch. Interwar semis tend to have big bay windows with several angled panes. Newer flats near the town centre can have floor-to-ceiling glass and Juliet balconies with plenty of fingerprints at child and dog height.
A few practical points we plan around:
- Flats. We’ll check parking, permits and how to get into the building. If you’re out, a key safe, a neighbour or the concierge all work, as long as it’s agreed beforehand.
- Pets. Let us know if a dog or cat will be in. We’ll keep doors and windows shut where needed so nobody escapes while we work.
- Shops. Shopfront glass picks up handprints and nose marks inside, and stickers and tape residue around old promotions. We can work before opening or after closing, subject to availability.
- Offices. Glass partitions, meeting-room walls and entrance doors show every smudge. We’ll fit around your hours where possible and follow your security and alarm procedures.
How we get a streak-free finish without damaging anything
Good window cleaning is mostly about choosing the right method for the glass and frame in front of you.
- We check the glass first. Tinted films, privacy films and self-cleaning coatings can be spoiled by the wrong product or a blade. We use suitable cleaners and never scrape coated or filmed glass.
- We dry and polish. Tap water leaves spots as it evaporates, so every pane is finished with a squeegee and a dry cloth, not left to air-dry.
- We use dedicated cloths. Window cloths stay window cloths. They’re never used in a bathroom or kitchen, which keeps grease and limescale residue off your glass.
- We go gently on frames. uPVC gets a mild solution, as cream cleaners and solvents can dull the finish. Painted timber gets a test patch first.
- We follow product instructions. Dilutions and contact times matter, and nothing is left on surfaces that pets or children touch.
- Eco-friendly products are available on request, checked for suitability on your glass and frames.
What customers say
“Our patio door tracks were full of grit and old leaves and the door had started sticking. They vacuumed it all out and wiped the runners, and the door slides properly again. Inside glass is spotless too.” Daniel K., Gidea Park, window cleaning
“I booked windows as an add-on to the move-out clean. The agent’s list mentioned sills and tracks specifically, and they went through them room by room. We left keys with the neighbour and it all went smoothly.” Aisha M., Harold Wood, end of tenancy with windows
“Inside only for our flat, as the building does the outside. Big windows and a Juliet balcony door covered in dog nose prints. Clear and no streaks, even with the evening sun on them.” Kerry O., Collier Row, interior window cleaning
Window cleaning FAQs
Can I book inside window cleaning only?
Yes. It’s one of our most common requests, especially for flats where the exterior is handled by the building. We’ll quote for interior glass, frames, sills and tracks only.
How often should windows be cleaned?
Usually every two to three months inside for most homes, with sills and frames wiped more often if condensation is an issue. Homes close to busy roads such as the A12 or A127, or near building work, tend to need it more often. Shops and offices with glass doors often benefit from more frequent attention.
Do you clean window tracks and frames?
Yes. Tracks are vacuumed first to lift grit, then wiped and dried. Frames, sills, handles and hinges are part of a standard visit unless you tell us otherwise.
Can you clean the outside of upstairs windows?
Sometimes. If the windows open fully inwards, we can usually do both sides from inside. Higher exterior glass that can’t be reached safely is quoted separately and may need a specialist. We’ll confirm this at the quote stage.
Can I add windows to a deep clean?
Yes. Just mention it when you ask for a quote and we’ll add the window tasks to the checklist so everything is done in the same visit.
Do I need to be home?
No. Many customers leave keys or use a key safe. We’ll agree access and arrival time in advance and lock up as arranged.
Can you remove paint flecks and sticker residue?
Often, yes, on plain glass and with care. We won’t use blades on coated, filmed or toughened glass, and some marks are etched in rather than sitting on top, so we can’t promise every one will come off.
