Carpet cleaning in Romford – stain and pet odour treatment - Cleaning Romford

Carpet Cleaning in Romford (RM)

Carpets hold far more than they show: grit worked deep into the pile, a cloudy patch where the coffee went over, a hallway that’s gone grey from years of school shoes. Our carpet cleaning in Romford lifts that soiling out using hot water extraction, with stain and pet odour treatment where the fibre allows, for homes, rentals, shops and offices across RM. Tell us the rooms, the carpet type and anything that’s bothering you, and we’ll come back with a clear, free quote.

What a proper carpet clean covers

A good result comes from the stages before and after the machine, not just from the machine itself. On a standard visit we:

  • Vacuum thoroughly first. Dry grit comes out with a vacuum, not with water. Skip this and you’re pushing mud around.
  • Check the fibre and test colour fastness. Wool, wool blends, polypropylene and nylon all behave differently. A quick test in a hidden corner tells us what’s safe.
  • Pre-treat traffic lanes and marks. Hallways, the strip in front of the sofa and the doorway into the kitchen get a pre-spray suited to the fibre, worked in by hand or with an agitation brush.
  • Clean by hot water extraction. This is what most people mean by steam carpet cleaning. We rinse heated water and solution down into the pile and extract it straight back out, along with the loosened soil.
  • Spot-treat what’s left. Stains that survive the main clean get a targeted second go with the right product.
  • Groom the pile and protect it. We brush the pile so it dries evenly, then put tabs or blocks under furniture feet so wood stain and metal don’t mark damp carpet.

We’ll agree which rooms, stairs and landings are in scope before we start, so there’s no confusion over whether the box room or the stairs were included.

Stains, pet accidents and what cleaning can’t fix

Most everyday marks lift well: tea, coffee, mud, food spills and general greying. Older or set-in stains are a different matter, and we’ll tell you honestly what’s likely before we start.

Tough stains

Red wine, curry, hair dye, nail varnish, ink and fake tan all bond with fibres in different ways. Many will lighten considerably and some will disappear completely, but we can’t promise full removal of any stain. Things that make a stain harder to shift:

  • It’s been there for months or has had several home remedies scrubbed into it
  • Someone has used bleach or a strong household spray, which may already have stripped the colour
  • It’s a dye-based spill on a light wool carpet

If you’ve got a stain you’re worried about, send us a photo. It’s the quickest way to get a realistic answer.

Pet odour and stain treatment

Pet urine is the most common reason people call us. Surface marks usually respond well to enzyme-based treatment, which breaks down the residue rather than just perfuming over it. If an accident has soaked through to the underlay or the floorboards, though, the smell can come back once the carpet is damp. In that case the fix may be replacing a section of underlay, and we’ll say so rather than charge you for a clean that won’t solve it.

When it isn’t a cleaning job

Some problems look like dirt but aren’t:

  • Flattened or worn pile in walkways
  • Sun fading near patio doors and bay windows
  • Bleach or chemical colour loss
  • Damp, musty carpet caused by rising damp, a leak or condensation behind furniture
  • Burns, ripples and lifting seams

Cleaning can freshen these areas, but it won’t restore the colour or structure. Damp needs sorting at the source first.

Sofas, rugs and fibres that need a different approach

Natural fibres such as sisal, seagrass, jute and some viscose rugs can shrink, brown or distort with wet cleaning, so we’ll check the label or ask before quoting. Delicate or antique rugs may need a lower-moisture method or a specialist. Fabric sofas, armchairs and dining chairs are cleaned with similar methods but different tools, so see our upholstery cleaning service if you’d like them done on the same visit.

How booking a carpet clean works

  1. Send us the details. Number of rooms, stairs and landings, carpet type if you know it, plus photos of any problem areas.
  2. We agree the scope and price. You’ll get a quote covering the areas, stain or odour treatment and any extras, all agreed before we start.
  3. Arrange access. We confirm the arrival window, parking and who’ll let us in. If you’re at work, keys can be left with a neighbour or in a key safe by arrangement.
  4. We clean. We use our own machines and products, running from a standard socket.
  5. Final walk-round. We check the work against what was agreed and talk you through drying and aftercare. If something in scope has been missed, let us know promptly and we’ll arrange to put it right.

What to do before we arrive

  • Clear small items off the floor: toys, shoes, bins, plants, cables and anything under the bed you’d like cleaned beneath.
  • Move fragile or valuable pieces yourself, especially electronics, glass cabinets and ornaments.
  • Tell us about pets so they can be kept in another room while we work and while the carpet dries.

Moving furniture for carpet cleaning

We’ll move light items like dining chairs, coffee tables, side tables and footstools, and put them back on protective tabs. Heavy pieces such as wardrobes, beds, fully loaded bookcases, pianos and large corner sofas usually stay put, and we clean carefully around them. If you want the carpet under a big piece done, it’s best to clear the space beforehand.

Drying time after carpet cleaning

Expect carpets to be damp to the touch for a few hours, often longer in winter or in rooms without much airflow. The main factors are the fibre, the thickness of the pile, how soiled it was and how well the room ventilates.

To help it along:

  • Open windows or keep the heating on low
  • Leave internal doors open for air movement
  • Walk on it in clean socks only, never outdoor shoes
  • Keep pets and children off until it’s dry
  • Leave furniture tabs in place until the carpet is fully dry

For tenancy cleans and shops, we’ll plan the visit so drying time doesn’t clash with an inventory check, a key handover or opening hours.

What changes the price

Carpet cleaning price per room varies because rooms do. Your quote depends on:

  • Size and number of areas: a single bedroom costs less than a through-lounge, and stairs are priced separately from rooms
  • Condition: heavy soiling, pet damage and neglected traffic lanes take more time and product
  • Treatments needed: stain work, odour treatment and fibre-specific products
  • Fibre type: wool and delicate fibres need more care
  • Access and parking: upper-floor flats without a lift, or roads with permit-only parking, can affect time on site
  • Combined jobs: adding rugs, sofas or other cleaning on the same visit

You’ll find more on how we work out quotes on our pricing page. There are no figures here because a fair price depends on your actual carpets.

Carpets in homes, rentals and businesses around Romford

Family homes. Living rooms, landings and stairs get the most wear. We’ll pay extra attention to the bottom step, the landing outside the bathroom and the patch in front of the TV.

Moving out. Many agents and inventories in RM expect carpets to be professionally cleaned. If you’re booking an end of tenancy clean, we can schedule the carpets last so other cleaning doesn’t mark them. Cleaning can’t repair wear or burns, and no cleaner can guarantee your deposit, but well-cleaned carpets do remove a common deduction risk.

Shops and offices. Carpet tiles in offices and entrance mats in shops collect grit fast. We can work early, late or at weekends where possible, so the floor has time to dry before staff and customers walk on it. Short-notice slots depend on availability.

What customers say

“Our hallway carpet had gone grey down the middle and I thought it was past saving. It’s back to the original beige. They moved the console table, cleaned under it and put it back on little foam pads.” Helen R., Gidea Park

“Booked before handing back the keys on our flat. The living room had a couple of marks from a takeaway that came up completely. One faint mark by the window is still there but they told me upfront it probably wouldn’t fully shift, so no surprises at the inventory.” Daniel O., Collier Row

“We’ve got two dogs and a rescue cat with opinions about the spare room. The smell’s gone from the main bedroom. They said the spare room underlay might need replacing and they were right, but at least we knew before paying for another go.” Sana K., Harold Wood

“Office carpet tiles done on a Saturday morning, dry enough by Monday. Quick, tidy, no fuss.” Mark T., Romford town centre

Carpet cleaning FAQs

Is steam carpet cleaning the same as hot water extraction? Yes, in practice. “Steam cleaning” is the everyday name for hot water extraction. We use heated water and solution, not true steam, and extract it straight back out.

Will you get every stain out? No cleaner can promise that. Most fresh and everyday stains lift well, and many older ones improve noticeably. Send photos and we’ll give you an honest view before you book.

How long until I can walk on the carpet? Usually within a few hours in clean socks, with full drying taking longer in cold or poorly ventilated rooms. We’ll give you guidance on the day based on your carpet and room.

Do I need to be home? No. Plenty of customers leave keys with a neighbour or in a key safe. We’ll agree access and arrival details in advance.

Can you treat pet urine smells? Usually, yes, for surface accidents. If urine has soaked into the underlay, the odour may return and replacement could be the real fix. We’ll tell you if we think that’s the case.

Do you clean wool carpets? Yes. We test first and use wool-suitable products. Natural fibres like sisal or seagrass need checking before we quote, as wet cleaning can damage them.

Do you cover all of Romford? Yes, plus surrounding parts of the RM area. Tell us your postcode when you get in touch and we’ll confirm.
