Eco Friendly Cleaning in Romford (RM)
Our eco friendly cleaning in Romford suits homes with babies crawling on the floors, pets licking the skirting, or someone who wheezes after a bleach-heavy clean. It also suits offices that want fewer harsh chemicals in the air. We use plant-based and low-fragrance products, washable cloths and careful methods to get kitchens, bathrooms and floors properly clean across RM, without the sharp chemical smell afterwards. Call or send us a few details and we’ll put together a free quote.
What we clean with, and why it works
Green cleaning products only work if you use them properly. Plant-based degreasers and citric descalers usually need more time on the surface than harsh chemicals, so we let them sit before we wipe instead of spraying and scrubbing straight away.
Our standard eco kit includes:
- Plant-based multi-surface cleaner, diluted from concentrate, for worktops, door frames, light switches and tables
- Citric acid descaler for taps, shower heads and shower screens
- Bicarbonate paste for sinks, hob surrounds and grubby grout lines
- Fragrance-free washing-up liquid, mixed with warm water for painted woodwork and sealed floors
- Washable microfibre cloths and mop heads, colour-coded and laundered between jobs
The water across much of the RM area is hard, which matters. White crust builds up on chrome taps, shower glass and around the base of the toilet. A citric descaler shifts most of it with time and a soft pad, so we don’t need to reach for a chlorine product.
What’s included in an eco clean
We match the checklist to your property, so a family house in Gidea Park and a small office near the town centre won’t get the same list. A typical visit covers:
Kitchen
- Worktops, splashbacks and cupboard fronts, including the sticky edges by the handles
- Hob surface and the outside of the oven, microwave and fridge
- Sink, taps and draining board, descaled where needed
- Bins wiped inside and out
- Floor vacuumed and mopped
Bathroom
- Bath, basin, toilet and shower tray
- Shower screen and tiles treated for limescale and soap scum
- Mirrors and chrome polished with a dry microfibre so they don’t streak
- Floor cleaned, including behind the toilet pedestal
Living areas and bedrooms
- Damp dusting of shelves, sills, skirting and picture frames. A damp cloth holds on to the dust, where a feather duster just moves it around the room
- Vacuuming carpets, rugs and upholstery edges
- Hard floors mopped with a dilution suitable for the finish
- Beds made or linen changed if you leave fresh sets out
You can book eco products for a routine visit through our regular domestic cleaning service, or for a top-to-bottom one-off through our deep cleaning service. Both get the same green approach.
Low waste, not just different bottles
A sustainable clean depends on how we work as much as on the products. In Romford homes and offices we:
- Buy concentrates and refill the same spray bottles, instead of getting through a new plastic bottle every few visits
- Use microfibre cloths, which pick up grease and dust with plain water or a light solution, so less product goes on each surface
- Skip disposable wipes and paper towel rolls almost entirely
- Measure dilutions rather than guessing, because extra product leaves sticky residue that attracts dirt
If you already have products you like, we’re happy to use them. Leave them out and let us know which surfaces they’re for.
Allergy friendly cleaning options
Lots of people ask us for eco cleaning because of asthma, eczema or a sensitive child. We can help a lot, but it’s best to be straight about what cleaning can and can’t do.
What we can do:
- Use fragrance-free products on request. “Natural” isn’t automatically gentle. Essential oils such as eucalyptus, tea tree and citrus can irritate airways and aren’t good for cats
- Damp dust instead of dry dusting, so less dust ends up in the air
- Vacuum carpets slowly and thoroughly, including under beds and along skirting where dust collects
- Wash cloths at a high temperature between jobs so we’re not carrying residue from one home to the next
What we can’t promise is an allergen-free home. Dust mites live deep in mattresses and soft furnishings, and pollen comes back in every time the window opens. A good clean reduces what’s sitting on surfaces, and you’ll get the most from it with regular visits.
Extras, limits and when eco isn’t the right answer
Some jobs need separate agreement, and a few need a different approach altogether.
- Heavily carbonised ovens. Baked-on carbon from years of roasts won’t come off with a gentle degreaser. We quote oven interiors separately and talk you through the product options.
- Disinfection requirements. Some businesses have to use a disinfectant that meets a specific standard. We’ll check what you need before suggesting an eco swap.
- Natural stone. Vinegar and citric descalers etch marble, limestone and travertine. On stone we use a pH-neutral cleaner and leave descaling alone.
- Unsealed wood and oiled worktops. We use minimal water and a product that suits the finish. Never steam.
- Black mould from structural damp. We can clean surface mould from sealant and window frames, but it’ll come back if there’s a leak, poor ventilation or failed pointing. That needs a builder or surveyor.
- Carpet extraction, external windows and high-level work are quoted separately and aren’t part of a routine visit.
How booking an eco clean works
- Tell us about the property. Size, the rooms you want cleaned, any pets, allergies or delicate surfaces. Photos help with one-off jobs.
- We agree the checklist and quote. You’ll see the tasks, any extras and the price upfront, before anything starts. Commercial premises may need a quick walkthrough first.
- We sort out access. Let us know if you’ll be in, if keys will be left with a neighbour, or if there’s a key safe or alarm code. We’ll agree an arrival window.
- We clean. We bring all the products and equipment unless you’d rather we used yours.
- We check our work. Before leaving, we go back through the agreed list. If anything in scope has been missed, get in touch promptly and we’ll arrange to put it right. We’ll confirm how re-cleans work when you book.
You don’t need to do much beforehand. Clearing worktops and floors means we spend the time cleaning rather than tidying, and that’s about it.
What changes the price
Eco products don’t add much to the cost of a clean. What makes the difference is:
- The size of the property and the number of bathrooms
- Its current condition. A first visit usually takes longer than the ones after it
- The tasks on the checklist, and any extras such as the oven interior or inside the fridge
- How often we visit
- Access and parking. Permit zones and controlled bays around the town centre can add time
Take a look at our pricing page for how quotes are put together, then send us your details for a figure based on your property.
Eco cleaning for homes and offices
At home, we work around you. If someone’s working from the spare room, we’ll do that room first or last. Tell us about pets, and we’ll keep doors closed and leave mopped floors to dry before dogs come back in. That’s especially important as paws pick up whatever’s on the floor.
At work, we can schedule before opening or after close where possible. On our office cleaning contracts across RM, we wipe down keyboards, desk phones, kitchenette worktops and the fingerprints on entrance glass. We use low-odour products, so staff aren’t greeted by a chemical smell in the morning. Low-odour products are especially useful in small units with poor ventilation, which describes many of the offices above shops in Romford.
What customers say
“My daughter’s asthma flares up with strong cleaning sprays, so I asked for fragrance-free everything. The house smelt of nothing at all afterwards, which is exactly what I wanted, and the shower screen is clear for the first time in months.” Hannah R., Gidea Park, eco domestic cleaning
“Fortnightly clean, keys left with the lady next door. The kitchen is always spotless and they don’t leave piles of used wipes in my bin.” Marcus O., Collier Row, regular eco cleaning
“We wanted a greener option for our office. They checked which surfaces in the staff kitchen needed a proper disinfectant and used eco products everywhere else. Clear, sensible advice.” Deepa K., Hornchurch, office cleaning
“Told them about our marble hearth and they used a different cleaner on it. Small thing, but it showed they knew what they were doing.” Tom W., Harold Wood, one-off deep clean
Eco cleaning FAQs
Do eco products clean as well as standard ones? For everyday dirt, grease and limescale, yes, provided they’re given time to work. For heavy carbon or specific disinfection standards, we’ll tell you honestly where something stronger is needed.
Are your products non-toxic? We choose plant-based, low-hazard products and avoid chlorine bleach and strong solvents. “Non-toxic” isn’t a guarantee any cleaner can make about every product, so we follow the label instructions, keep everything out of reach of children and pets during the visit, and let floors dry before anyone walks on them.
Are they safe for pets? Usually, yes, once the surfaces are dry. Let us know about cats in particular, and we’ll avoid products with essential oils.
Can I ask for completely fragrance-free products? Yes. Just mention it when you book, and we’ll bring unscented versions for the whole visit.
Can you use my own products? Yes. Leave them out with a note of which surfaces they’re for, and we’ll check they suit those finishes.
Do you offer eco cleaning for end-of-tenancy cleans? Yes. We work to the agreed room-by-room checklist and use stronger products only where heavy build-up calls for it, after talking it through with you. Cleaning can’t fix wear or damage, and no cleaner can guarantee a deposit return.
Will vinegar damage my surfaces? It can. It etches marble, limestone and some grout, and it can dull certain sealed finishes over time. Tell us what your surfaces are made of, and we’ll choose products that suit them.
