Retail Cleaning in Romford (RM)
Customers notice smeared door glass and dust along the top shelf before they notice your new stock, and you don’t have time to fix that between serving and restocking. We provide retail cleaning in Romford and across RM for independent shops, boutiques, chain stores and shopping centre units. We clean before you open or after you close, so trading carries on as normal. Call 01708 204 312 or send us a few details and photos for a free, no-obligation quote.
What we clean, from the front door to the stock room
We start where your customers start, at the entrance. Then we work back through the shop floor, the till, the fitting rooms and toilets, and finish in the back-of-house areas your staff use all day.
Entrance, shop floor and displays
- Door glass, push plates and handles, cleaned until they’re free of fingerprints and the nose marks dogs leave at knee height
- Entrance mats lifted and cleaned underneath, because that’s where grit collects before it’s walked across the floor
- Hard floors swept and mopped with a product suited to the finish, whether that’s vinyl, tiles, sealed timber or polished concrete
- Carpeted areas vacuumed, including edges and under low fixtures where we can reach
- Shelving, gondola ends and display tables dusted around your stock, not through it
- Glass cabinets, counter fronts and mirrors cleaned with lint-free cloths, so they don’t show streaks under spotlights
- Ledges, skirting and window display bases, where agreed
Till point and fitting rooms
- Counter tops, bag holders and card terminals. We wipe terminals with a lightly dampened cloth and never spray them directly.
- The floor behind the counter, where receipts, tags and dropped security pins build up
- Fitting room mirrors, hooks, seats and floors. We gather stray hangers and pins and leave them for your staff to sort.
- Bins emptied and liners replaced throughout
Toilets, staff kitchen and stock areas
- Customer and staff toilets, sinks and taps cleaned, with light limescale treated as part of the routine. We refill consumables from your supplies.
- Staff kitchen worktops, sink, microwave interior, fridge exterior, kettle and tables
- Stock room and back corridor floors swept, with packaging waste taken to your bins or compactor as agreed
- Racking edges dusted at reachable height. We keep walkways clear, but we won’t move stock unless we’ve agreed it with you.
Routine visits and periodic tasks
A daily or weekly visit covers the essentials. On a rota, we add the deeper jobs that keep the shop from slowly going dull: high-level dusting, light fittings, deep cleans of skirting and door frames, and descaling of toilet areas. Everything is written into your checklist, so you can see when each job is due.
Retail cleaning checklists you can see and change
Every shop gets a written checklist split into each-visit, weekly and monthly tasks. You keep a copy, and we work from the same one. If priorities change, we update the checklist. Wet winter weeks need more attention on entrance floors, and the run-up to Christmas brings more fitting room traffic and more cardboard out the back.
This is also how we keep floor and display standards consistent. The person cleaning your shop on a Tuesday works to the same list as the person cleaning it on a Friday.
Extras, limits and specialist work
Some jobs need extra equipment, time or access, so we quote them separately:
- Floor machine scrubbing, stripping and resealing. We check the flooring type first, and the manufacturer’s guidance where it’s available.
- Carpet extraction for shop-floor carpet or staff areas, through our carpet cleaning service
- Shopfront glass and signage on the outside, arranged through our commercial window cleaning
- High-level work such as lighting tracks, ceiling vents and tall racking, which needs suitable access equipment
- Cleaning after a refit or new fixtures, where fine dust settles on every surface and needs several passes
Cleaning won’t solve everything. Worn vinyl, scratched acrylic, water-stained ceiling tiles and damp patches are repair or maintenance issues. If you find signs of pests, call pest control before we clean. During a refit of an older unit, any suspect ceiling or floor material should be checked before anyone disturbs it. We’ll tell you what we notice, but we won’t pretend a cloth can fix it.
Out-of-hours shop cleaning that fits your trading day
Most shops in Romford want cleaning either before opening or after the shutters come down. We agree the slot with you and stick to it.
Shopping centre units. Units in centres such as The Liberty or The Brewery usually come with management rules: contractor sign-in, set access hours, service corridor routes and waste procedures. Send us your centre’s contractor requirements and we’ll work to them.
High street and market shops. Around South Street and the Market Place, parking and loading restrictions affect arrival times and how we bring in equipment. We plan for that when we book.
Keys and alarms. We agree in advance how we’ll get in, who holds keys, and how to lock up and set the alarm. We don’t touch tills, safes or locked stock cages.
Drying time. We mop in sections, put out wet floor signs, and finish floors early enough that they’re dry when you open the doors.
How it works
- Tell us about the shop. Give us the size, the floor types, your opening hours and what bothers you most. Photos help, and larger stores may need a quick walkthrough.
- Agree the checklist and quote. We set out tasks, frequency, timings and any extras, and agree the price upfront before any work starts.
- Sort access. Keys, alarm codes, centre sign-in and parking are all arranged in advance.
- We clean. We bring the supplies and equipment unless you’d prefer we use yours.
- Final check. Before leaving, we check the work against the agreed list. If something in scope has been missed, tell us promptly and we’ll arrange to put it right. We’ll confirm how that works when you book.
Before our first visit, it helps if you secure high-value stock, point out any delicate displays, and tell us about product preferences or staff allergies.
Doing it properly around stock and finishes
- Spray onto the cloth, not the surface, near clothing, books, cosmetics and electronics, so nothing gets overspray
- Use the right product for acrylic risers and Perspex signs. Ammonia-based glass cleaners can cloud acrylic, and rough cloths scratch it.
- Test patch first on unfamiliar display finishes, painted fixtures and natural stone counters
- Keep cloths separate. Toilet cloths never go near the staff kitchen or the till, and we use colour-coded kit to make sure of it.
- Follow product dilution and contact times as stated on the label. Eco-friendly products are available on request, with suitability checked for each surface.
What changes the price
Every shop is quoted on its own details:
- Floor area and layout, including back rooms and mezzanines
- How much display glass, mirror and shelving there is
- Visit frequency and time of day
- Current condition, especially for a first clean
- Specialist tasks such as machine scrubbing or high-level work
- Access rules, parking and waste arrangements

Why shop owners choose us
- Your checklist is written down and agreed, so standards don’t drift
- Our cleaners are vetted and insured, which matters when they hold your keys
- We plan around your trading hours and your centre’s rules, not ours
- We report anything we notice, such as a loose floor tile, a leaking tap or a blocked toilet, so you can deal with it early
What shop owners say
“The front door glass was our biggest problem, with constant handprints from kids. Now it’s spotless when we open every morning, and the fitting rooms are actually tidy.” Natalie R., Romford, boutique cleaning
“We’re in a shopping centre unit and the sign-in process puts some contractors off. They sorted it with management themselves and have turned up at the right time ever since.” Daniel O., Romford, shop cleaning
“Good with the stock room. They don’t move boxes around, they just keep the floor clear and the cardboard gone. They told us about a dripping pipe in the staff toilet before it got worse.” Harjit K., Hornchurch, store cleaning
“Evening clean after we close at six. Floors are dry and they lock up properly. Simple.” Paul M., Gidea Park, retail cleaning
Retail cleaning FAQs
Can you clean before we open or after we close?
Yes. Most of our retail work in Romford happens outside trading hours. We’ll agree a regular slot when you book. Short-notice changes depend on availability.
Do you clean shops outside Romford town centre?
Yes. We cover shops, parades and retail units across RM, including Hornchurch, Gidea Park, Harold Wood, Collier Row and Upminster. Check our coverage if you’re unsure.
Will you move our stock to clean underneath?
No, not unless we’ve agreed it with you first. We clean around stock and displays. If you’d like shelving cleared and cleaned in sections, we can schedule that as a periodic task.
Do you bring your own products and equipment?
Usually, yes. We bring supplies and equipment unless you’d rather we used yours. Tell us about any delicate finishes or product preferences beforehand.
Can you work to our shopping centre’s contractor rules?
Yes. Send us the centre’s requirements and we’ll follow them, including sign-in, access hours, routes and waste disposal.
Is the outside of the shopfront included?
Not automatically. External glass and signage are quoted separately as window cleaning, so the routine visit can focus on the inside of the shop.
Can you clean after a refit before we reopen?
Yes, as a separate one-off job. Refit dust gets into fixtures and settles again overnight, so we plan several passes and agree the scope once we’ve seen the space.
