Kitchen cleaning service in Romford – grease and limescale - Cleaning Romford

Kitchen Cleaning Service in Romford (RM)

Our kitchen cleaning service in Romford is for kitchens that need more than a wipe-down. That might be a cooker hood that’s gone tacky, grease on the splashback, crumbs packed into the cupboard hinges, or a hob you’ve stopped looking at. We clean family homes, rented flats and small business kitchens across RM, working to a checklist we agree with you before we start. Send us a few photos or give us a call, and we’ll come back with a free, no-obligation quote.

What we clean in a standard kitchen clean

We work from the top of the room down, so dust and crumbs land on surfaces we haven’t cleaned yet. This is what a typical kitchen clean covers:

Worktops, splashback and tiles

  • Worktops cleared, cleaned and dried, including along the back edge and the joins
  • Tiled or glass splashbacks degreased, with grout lines scrubbed where they’ve darkened from cooking splatter
  • Wall tiles around the hob and sink, plus switches and sockets wiped

Cupboards and drawers

  • Cupboard doors and drawer fronts cleaned, including the top edges, where grease and dust settle together
  • Handles, knobs and the bottom rails, which collect the most fingerprints and drips
  • Tops of wall units, if they’re reachable safely from a step

Appliance exteriors

  • Fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave fronts, sides and handles
  • Stainless steel cleaned and buffed along the grain to reduce streaking
  • Kettle, toaster and coffee machine exteriors, unplugged first

Hob and cooker hood

  • Gas hob pan supports and burner caps soaked and scrubbed, and ceramic or induction glass cleaned with a suitable scraper and cream
  • Cooker hood canopy degreased, inside and out
  • Metal mesh filters soaked in degreaser where they’re removable (carbon filters can’t be cleaned and need replacing)

Sink, taps and finishing

  • Sink descaled, plughole and overflow cleaned, and taps polished
  • Bin wiped inside and out
  • Skirting boards and kickboards wiped, and the floor vacuumed and mopped, including under the kickboard edge where we can reach

Grease, limescale and the jobs that take longest

Kitchen grease is a mix of cooking oil and airborne dust that hardens over time. Once it’s set, a spray-and-wipe just smears it around. On hoods, splashbacks and cupboard doors next to the cooker, we use a degreaser, give it time to work, and then rinse, because leftover product leaves a sticky film that attracts dirt again.

Limescale is the other big one. Water in this part of Essex is hard, so taps, sink drainers and the area around the kettle build up chalky deposits quickly. We treat them with a descaler suited to the finish. Brushed or coloured tap finishes need gentler products than chrome.

If your kitchen hasn’t had a proper clean in a long time, a deep clean covering the whole property may make more sense than a kitchen on its own. We’ll say so if we think it will.

Inside cupboards and the fridge: add-ons worth booking

Cupboard interiors aren’t part of a routine kitchen clean, but you can add them. The catch is that the cupboards need to be empty. You can clear them before we arrive, or we can lift items out shelf by shelf and put them back. That takes longer, so we’ll agree it in the quote.

Other add-ons people often book:

  • Fridge and freezer interiors. These need to be emptied, and a freezer should be defrosted beforehand.
  • Oven interiors. These are a separate job with their own process, so see our oven cleaning service.
  • Inside the microwave and dishwasher, including the dishwasher filter.
  • Behind and under appliances, where they can be moved safely and the connections allow it.

Kitchen sanitisation: what we can and can’t promise

We disinfect high-touch points as part of the clean: tap handles, fridge handles, cupboard pulls, bin lids, switches and the worktops you prepare food on. The surface gets cleaned first, because disinfectant doesn’t work properly on grease. Then we apply a suitable product and leave it for the contact time on the label.

What we won’t claim is a sterile kitchen, or that we’ve eliminated every bacterium. A clean kitchen is easier to keep hygienic, and that’s the honest goal. Food businesses remain responsible for their own hygiene procedures and inspections.

When cleaning isn’t the answer

Some kitchen problems look like dirt but aren’t. We’ll tell you when we spot one of these:

  • Black mould that comes back around the window or behind units usually points to condensation or damp. We can clean the surface, but you’ll need to fix the ventilation or the cause.
  • Stained or etched worktops. Wine rings on oak, acid etching on marble and heat marks on laminate are damage to the surface, not dirt sitting on it.
  • Peeling cupboard doors or swollen chipboard near the sink. Cleaning won’t fix these, and scrubbing can make them worse.
  • Pest droppings need a pest controller first. We can clean afterwards.

How booking a kitchen clean works

  1. Tell us about the kitchen. Size, condition, any extras, and photos of the hob, hood and anything you’re worried about.
  2. We agree the checklist and quote. You’ll know the scope and the price before we start, with any add-ons listed separately.
  3. We sort out access. That might be keys, a lockbox, a concierge or a neighbour, plus parking and arrival time.
  4. We clean. We bring our own products, cloths and equipment unless you’d like us to use yours.
  5. We do a final check against the agreed list. If something in scope has been missed, get in touch promptly and we’ll arrange to put it right. We’ll confirm how that works when you book.

What helps on the day: clear the worktops of anything you don’t want moved, empty any cupboards or fridges you’ve booked us to do inside, and let us know where the stopcock is if you’re going to be out.

What affects the price of a kitchen clean

There’s no set figure because kitchens vary so much. The main factors are:

  • Size and layout. A galley kitchen in a flat is a different job from a large kitchen-diner with an island.
  • Condition. Years of baked-on grease takes far longer than a kitchen that gets wiped down weekly.
  • Add-ons. Cupboard interiors, fridge, oven and behind appliances.
  • Frequency. A regular kitchen clean is usually quicker each time than a one-off.
  • Access and parking. On-street permit zones near Romford town centre can affect how long we need.

You’ll find more on how we quote on our pricing page.

Homes, rentals and small business kitchens

Family homes. We can work around you being in, but it’s easiest if the kitchen isn’t in use for a couple of hours. Let us know about pets. A curious dog and a freshly mopped floor don’t mix, and we keep cleaning products out of reach.

Moving out. Agents and inventory clerks look at the oven, hood filters, inside cupboards and the fridge. If you’re leaving a rental in Romford, our end of tenancy cleaning covers the kitchen alongside the rest of the property, worked from the inventory. Cleaning can’t cover wear and tear, and no cleaner can guarantee your deposit back.

Offices, staff rooms and small cafés. Staff kitchens around the RM1 town centre and further across RM tend to need regular attention: microwave splatter, fridge clear-outs and sticky kettle handles. We can schedule visits before opening or after close, depending on availability.

Doing it properly: surfaces and safety

  • Check the material first. Granite and quartz need pH-neutral cleaners. Oiled oak shouldn’t be soaked. Marble reacts to anything acidic, including descaler.
  • Test patch anything unusual, such as painted cupboards, high-gloss doors or aged brass taps.
  • Separate cloths. Kitchen cloths never go near a bathroom, and we use colour-coded cloths so they don’t get mixed up.
  • Leave it food-safe. We rinse food-prep surfaces after degreasing or disinfecting, so nothing ends up in your next sandwich.
  • Eco products are available on request. We’ll check they suit each surface, because some plant-based cleaners struggle with heavy grease.

What customers say

“The cooker hood had gone that sticky brown colour and I’d given up on it. The filters came back looking almost new and the splashback grout is white again. Booked the cupboard interiors too, which was worth it.” Hannah R., Gidea Park, kitchen clean

“Needed the kitchen sorted before the inventory check on our flat. They went through the agent’s list item by item and did inside the fridge and the oven as well. Keys were left with the neighbour, all fine.” Tomasz K., Harold Wood, kitchen and oven clean

“We have someone in fortnightly for our staff kitchen now. Microwave, fridge, worktops. Simple, and it gets done before we open.” Deepa M., Romford town centre, office kitchen

“Asked them to be careful with our oak worktops and they were. Thorough job.” Gary W., Collier Row, one-off kitchen clean

Kitchen cleaning FAQs

Do you bring your own products and equipment? Yes. We bring everything we need, including degreasers, descalers, scrapers for glass hobs and microfibre cloths. If you’d prefer particular products to be used, tell us in advance.

Is the inside of the oven included? No, not in a standard kitchen clean. Oven interiors are a separate service because they need specific products and extra time, but you can add one to the same visit.

Do I need to empty my cupboards? Only if you’ve booked cupboard interiors. You can empty them yourself, or we can do it shelf by shelf for an agreed extra.

Can you get rid of stains on my worktop? Sometimes. Surface marks usually lift. Stains that have soaked into wood, or etching on stone, are damage rather than dirt, so we can’t promise to remove them.

How long does a kitchen clean take? Usually a few hours, depending on size, condition and any extras. We’ll give you an idea when we quote.

Do I need to be at home? No. Plenty of customers in Romford leave keys or arrange access. We’ll agree how that works beforehand.

Can you clean a kitchen in a holiday let or a shared house? Yes. We can clean between guests or on a regular schedule, working to a checklist you’re happy with.
