Sparkle Clean in Romford (RM)
The build is finished, the snagging list is nearly cleared, and someone is about to walk in and judge the place: a buyer, a tenant, a client or you. Our sparkle clean in Romford is the final, detailed clean that removes the last film of dust, polishes glazing and fixtures and gets new builds, refurbishments and extensions across RM ready for handover or photographs. Send us photos and your handover date and we’ll put together a free, no-obligation quote.
Where a sparkle clean fits after the builders leave
A sparkle clean is the last clean before handover. It isn’t the first one after the trades leave. On most projects the work happens in three stages:
- Builders’ clean. The contractor clears rubble, offcuts and packaging and sweeps through.
- After-builders clean. This is the heavy stage. It covers thick plaster dust, paint spots, protective film, sticker residue and grime on every surface. If your site is still at this point, our after-builders cleaning service is the right starting place.
- Sparkle clean. This is the final, detailed pass for a handover, show home or completion standard.
Timing matters. Fine dust from sanding, cutting and plastering stays in the air and keeps settling for a day or two after the work stops. If the sparkle clean happens straight after the heavy clean, you’ll see a grey bloom on the worktops by the next morning. We book it as close to handover as we can, once the trades have finished.
What our sparkle clean checklist covers
We agree the checklist with you before we start. On a typical handover clean in Romford it includes:
Glazing, frames and doors
- Internal glass polished streak-free, including the edges where dust sits against the beading
- uPVC, aluminium and timber frames wiped down, with sills and drainage channels cleared of grit
- Door leaves, frames, handles, hinges and letterplates
- Bi-fold and sliding door tracks vacuumed out and wiped
Kitchens
- Cupboard and drawer interiors and exteriors, which is why we ask for units to be empty
- Worktops cleaned using the method that suits the material, plus splashbacks and sink buffed
- Appliance exteriors, door seals and control panels, with protective film removed where agreed
- Plinths and the tops of wall units, where dust always collects
Bathrooms and en-suites
- Shower screens, glass panels and mirrors polished
- Taps, shower heads, valves and waste fittings brought back to a clean shine
- Sanitaryware, tiles and grout lines wiped free of dust and light haze
- Extractor fan covers and towel rails
Throughout
- Skirting boards, architraves, light switches and sockets
- Radiators, including the gaps between panels
- Light fittings within safe reach, and spotlight rims
- Hard floors vacuumed and mopped, with carpets vacuumed using fine-dust filtration
- Staircases, spindles and handrails
- A final walk-through so the property is ready for photographs or keys
Extras, limits and when cleaning isn’t the answer
Some tasks need to be agreed separately because they take more time, different equipment or a specialist method:
- External windows and high-level glazing above safe reach. We can arrange window cleaning separately.
- Heavy paint splashes, plaster on glass or dried adhesive across large areas. That’s after-builders work, and we’ll quote it as such.
- Carpet extraction on new or soiled carpets.
- Oven interiors, if they’ve been used during the build.
- Communal areas, bin stores or garages on blocks and developments.
Cleaning has its limits, and we’d rather tell you upfront. It won’t remove scratches in glass, etching on stone, cement haze left by poor grouting or damaged finishes on worktops and doors. Those go back on the snagging list. We also don’t handle suspected asbestos, damp caused by building defects or chemical spills. If we come across anything like that, we’ll stop and let you know.
How we plan a handover clean
- Tell us about the job. Send the property type, number of rooms, handover date and a few photos. For larger developments or commercial fit-outs we may arrange a walkthrough first.
- Agree the checklist and quote. We confirm the scope, any extras and the price before any work starts.
- Sort access. We’ll agree keys, lockbox codes or site contact details, plus arrival times and any site rules.
- We clean. Our vetted, insured cleaners bring the supplies and equipment, and work top to bottom so dust falls onto areas we haven’t cleaned yet.
- Final check. We walk the property against the agreed checklist before we leave. If something in scope has been missed, contact us promptly and we’ll arrange to put it right. We’ll confirm how re-cleans work when you book.
Before we arrive, please make sure:
- The trades have finished, or you’ve told us who will still be on site
- Power and water are on, because we can’t polish glass in a dark room with no water
- Cupboards are empty and protective floor coverings have been lifted, unless you want them left down
What affects the price and timing
Every sparkle clean is quoted on the actual job. The main factors are:
- Size and layout. A one-bed flat is very different from a four-bed house with a loft conversion and two en-suites.
- Condition after the earlier cleans. If the heavy dust hasn’t been dealt with, it adds time.
- Amount of glazing. Bi-folds, roof lanterns and glass balustrades take longer to finish properly.
- Extras. These include carpets, external glass, appliances and communal areas.
- Access and timing. This covers parking, stairs without a lift, weekend or early-morning slots, and how tight the handover deadline is.
You can see how we approach costs on our pricing page. Short-notice dates depend on availability, so tell us your handover date as early as you can, even if it might move.
Working on live sites, new homes and commercial units
- Other trades on site. We can work around a decorator finishing the last room, but we can’t sparkle-clean under someone sanding. We’ll agree an order with your site manager.
- Keys and security. We’ll confirm key handover, alarm codes and who locks up. Unoccupied new builds and shop fit-outs stay secure while we’re there.
- Parking. Restrictions apply around Romford town centre and on many residential streets in the RM area. Let us know if there’s an on-site space or permit.
- Occupied homes. If you’ve already moved into an extension project, we’ll work room by room around you, your pets and your furniture.
- Retail and office fit-outs. We’ll schedule around opening dates and signage installers where we can.
Doing it properly on brand-new surfaces
New finishes are often at their most vulnerable in the first few weeks, so we take care with them:
- Right product for the surface. Natural stone and some composite worktops shouldn’t be cleaned with acidic cleaners. Brushed brass and matt black taps can mark with abrasive pads, so we use non-scratch methods.
- Test patches. Where we’re unsure how a finish will react, we test on a hidden spot first.
- Dust off before wiping. Wiping gritty dust across glass or gloss doors can scratch them. We vacuum and dry-dust first, then clean.
- Separate cloths. Bathroom and kitchen cloths are kept apart and colour-coded.
- Product instructions followed. We use the right dilution and dwell time, and rinse where needed, so worktops are safe to use. If new flooring is still curing, we’ll check the manufacturer’s care guidance before mopping.
Eco-friendly product options are available on request, and we’ll check they suit each surface.
Why builders and homeowners book us for the final clean
Most of the difference comes from how we organise the job. The checklist is agreed before we arrive, so you know what’s being done. We book the clean around when the dust has actually settled, not just when the diary has a gap. And we check the work against that list before we leave. You get a property in Romford that’s ready to show, not one that needs another wipe on the morning of the viewing.
What customers say
“We had a rear extension with huge bi-folds and a roof lantern, and the glass was covered in a film you couldn’t see until the sun hit it. After the sparkle clean you could see straight through to the garden. The door tracks were vacuumed out too, which I hadn’t even thought of.” Claire M., Gidea Park, sparkle clean
“Two new-build flats needed to be ready for letting photos on a tight timescale. Keys were left in the lockbox and everything was done before the photographer arrived. One spotlight rim was missed, I sent a photo, and it was sorted the next day.” Daniel O., Harold Wood, post-construction handover clean
“Good with the new quartz worktops. They asked what they were before using anything on them.” Anita R., Collier Row, final builders clean
Sparkle clean FAQs
Is a sparkle clean the same as an after-builders clean? No. An after-builders clean removes the heavy dust, paint spots and residue. A sparkle clean is the final detailed pass before handover. Many projects need both, a day or two apart.
How long does a sparkle clean take? It depends on size, glazing and condition. A small flat can often be done in a day, while larger houses may need a team or more than one visit. We’ll give you a realistic timescale with the quote.
Can you do it the day before handover? Usually, yes, if the trades have finished and we have availability. We’d still recommend booking early, because short-notice slots aren’t guaranteed.
Do you remove protective film and stickers? Yes. Film on appliances, glass and frames, and manufacturers’ stickers, are part of the job when agreed. Large amounts of dried adhesive or paint may be quoted as extra.
Do I need to supply cleaning products or equipment? No. We bring supplies and equipment unless we’ve agreed otherwise. We just need working power, water and lighting.
Can you guarantee the property will pass the buyer’s or client’s inspection? No cleaner can guarantee that, because inspections also cover workmanship and finishes. What we do guarantee is that we work to the agreed checklist and put right anything in scope that we’ve missed.
Do you cover all of RM? We cover Romford and the surrounding RM areas. Send us the postcode and we’ll confirm.
