Disinfection Cleaning Service in Romford (RM)
After a sickness bug has gone through the house, or half the office has been off with the same cold, an ordinary tidy-up often doesn’t feel like enough. Our disinfection cleaning service in Romford concentrates on the handles, switches, taps and shared surfaces people touch all day. We clean them first, then apply a suitable disinfectant and leave it for the contact time on the label. We cover homes, offices and shops across RM.
Send us a few details about the property and what’s prompted the visit, and we’ll come back with a free, no-obligation quote. Call 01708 204 312 or get a quote online.
Disinfection cleaning checklist: what we cover
We agree the checklist with you before the visit. Most jobs are built around high-touch points rather than every surface in the building, because those points are where hands pass germs from one person to the next.
In homes
- Door handles, push plates and the edges of doors people grab
- Light switches, plug sockets (wiped dry, never wet) and thermostat controls
- Banisters and stair rails
- Kitchen: tap handles, kettle and fridge handles, microwave buttons, cupboard pulls, worktops and the bin lid
- Bathroom: toilet flush, seat and hinges, basin taps, shower controls, towel rails and the bath edge
- Remote controls, games controllers and the hard parts of phone cases, on request
- Bedside tables, desk surfaces and chair arms in the room where someone has been unwell
In offices, shops and shared spaces
- Entry doors, push bars and the glass around door handles
- Lift buttons, entry phones and key-fob readers
- Reception desks, counters and the area around card machines
- Kitchen and tea points: taps, fridge handles, microwave, kettle, coffee machine buttons and shared worktops
- Washroom taps, flushes, cubicle locks, hand-dryer surfaces and soap dispenser buttons
- Meeting-room tables, chair arms, shared phones and keyboards
- Communal stair rails, post box areas and bin store door handles
If you need this as an ongoing routine for a workplace, we can build touchpoint disinfection into regular office cleaning so it happens on a set schedule.
Why we clean before we disinfect
Disinfectant doesn’t work properly on a dirty surface. Grease on a fridge handle, soap scum on a tap or a film of fingerprints on a push plate can shield germs from the product. So every surface on the checklist gets a proper clean with a detergent first. The disinfectant goes on after that.
The second step is contact time. Most disinfectants need to stay wet on the surface for a set period, often several minutes, before they reach the result stated on the label. A quick spray-and-wipe can take the product off before it has done anything. We follow the manufacturer’s instructions for each product and wait for the stated time.
We also handle a few other details:
- Separate cloths for separate areas. Bathroom cloths never touch kitchen surfaces. We colour-code cloths and change them between rooms so we don’t carry germs from the toilet to the worktop.
- Food-contact surfaces. Some products need rinsing from chopping areas or worktops before food goes back on them. We check the label and rinse where it says to.
- Electronics. We never spray keyboards, phones or switches directly. We apply the product to a cloth and keep moisture away from gaps and charging ports.
- Delicate finishes. Natural stone, unsealed wood, brass, antique furniture and some coated surfaces can mark or dull with the wrong chemical. Tell us about them. We’ll use a gentler product or test a small hidden area first, and leave anything unsuitable off the list.
Antiviral fogging vs manual disinfection
Fogging spreads a fine mist of disinfectant through a room. It reaches places a cloth can’t, but it doesn’t remove dirt, so it doesn’t replace cleaning. The room usually has to be empty during and after treatment, smoke detectors may need covering, and soft furnishings and electronics need thinking about.
For most homes and small Romford offices, manual disinfection of touchpoints does more good. The surfaces get cleaned, the product stays on for the right contact time, and nobody has to clear the building. If a landlord, insurer or head office has asked about fogging, call us. We’ll talk through whether it suits your premises and what the realistic options are.
Products we use for sanitisation
We bring our own detergents, disinfectants, cloths and equipment unless we’ve agreed otherwise. Where you need antiviral performance, we choose products whose labels show virucidal testing, such as EN 14476. We use them as directed: the right dilution, the right contact time and the right ventilation.
Eco-friendly options are available on request. Some gentler products have narrower claims or longer contact times, so we’ll explain what each one is tested against before you decide. If anyone in the household has asthma, allergies or sensitive skin, or you have pets, birds or a fish tank, let us know beforehand so we can plan products and ventilation around them.
What this service doesn’t cover
Disinfection cleaning reduces germs on the surfaces we treat. It doesn’t make a room sterile, and nobody can honestly promise it will stop an illness spreading. A few situations need something different:
- Large bodily fluid spills, trauma scenes or sharps need a specialist biohazard contractor. Small, everyday sickness clean-ups in the home can usually be discussed.
- Black mould from damp comes back unless the cause is fixed. We can clean visible surface mould, but leaks, condensation and ventilation problems are a job for a builder or the landlord.
- Pest droppings in quantity need pest control first.
- Hazardous materials, including suspected asbestos, aren’t something we disturb.
- Carpets, mattresses and upholstery need separate treatment and drying time, so we quote them separately.
If the whole property needs work rather than just the touchpoints, a deep clean followed by disinfection is often the better plan.
How a disinfection visit works
- Tell us what’s happened. A bout of illness at home, a new term starting, an office reopening or a routine you want to set up. Photos or a short description help, and larger commercial sites may need a walkthrough.
- We agree the checklist and quote. You’ll know which rooms, touchpoints and extras are included, and the price, before we start.
- We arrange access. Keys, alarm codes, concierge details or an out-of-hours slot. If someone at home is still unwell, tell us so we can plan the visit around them.
- We clean, then disinfect. We work room by room with separate cloths, follow contact times and ventilate as we go.
- We check against the list. Before we leave, we go back over the agreed touchpoints. If something in scope has been missed, contact us promptly and we’ll arrange to put it right.
All you need to do is clear things off worktops and desks where you can, and put away anything personal you’d rather we didn’t handle.
What changes the price
- The size of the property and how many rooms are included
- The number of touchpoints, and whether it’s a targeted visit or a whole-property job
- The condition of surfaces, since heavy grime takes longer to clean before disinfecting
- Whether it’s a one-off or a regular schedule
- Out-of-hours timing, parking and access
- Extras such as upholstery, carpets or high-level areas
Our pricing page explains how quotes are put together. We’ll always agree the cost with you upfront.
Working in Romford homes and businesses
Homes are often occupied during a disinfection visit, sometimes with a poorly child upstairs. We’ll work around closed doors and come back to a room later if needed. We’ll open windows where we can so products don’t linger, and we’ll keep pets out of rooms until surfaces are dry.
Shops and offices around Romford town centre usually want us before opening or after closing, so the doors, counters and card machine area are ready for customers. We’ll agree arrival times, alarm handling and who locks up. If parking is pay-and-display or permit-only near your premises, tell us when you book so we can allow for it in the timings.
What customers say
“Norovirus went through all four of us in a week. Once everyone was back on their feet I just wanted the house done properly. They went through every handle, switch and tap, and did both bathrooms twice as thoroughly as I would have. They even asked about our cat’s bowls before using anything in the kitchen.” Hannah R., Gidea Park, disinfection cleaning
“We have a small accountancy office and booked touchpoint cleaning on Friday evenings. Keyboards, phones, the kitchen and the door handles. Simple, and on schedule.” Daniel O., Romford, office touchpoint disinfection
“I asked for fogging because I’d read about it. They explained why it wasn’t really what our flat needed and did a proper manual clean instead. Keys were left with my neighbour and everything was handled as agreed.” Shirin K., Harold Wood, sanitisation service
Disinfection cleaning FAQs
Do you clean as well as disinfect?
Yes. Every surface on the checklist is cleaned with detergent first, then disinfected. Disinfectant doesn’t work properly through grease or grime.
Can you guarantee you’ll kill a virus?
No. We use products tested against viruses and apply them as the label directs, which reduces germs on the surfaces we treat. No cleaner can honestly guarantee a sterile result or that illness won’t spread.
Is it safe for children and pets?
Usually, yes, once surfaces are dry and rooms are ventilated. Tell us about children, pets or allergies when you book and we’ll choose products and timings to suit.
How long does a disinfection visit take?
That depends on the size of the property and the number of touchpoints. A targeted home visit can take a couple of hours, while larger premises take longer. We’ll give you a realistic estimate with your quote.
Can you come while someone is still ill?
Often, yes. We can work around an occupied room or leave it until later. Tell us beforehand so we can plan the visit sensibly.
Do you cover all RM postcodes?
We cover Romford and the surrounding RM areas. Send us your postcode and we’ll confirm availability.
