Cleaning Checklist in Romford: Room by Room, From a Weekly Tidy to a Move-Out
This cleaning checklist in Romford shows what we clean in each room on a regular visit, a deep clean and an end-of-tenancy clean. Use it to choose the right type of clean before you book, so you don’t pay for a light clean when you need a deep one, or the other way round.
Every job starts with an agreed list. We match the tasks to your property, its condition and the reason you’re booking, then check our work against that list before we leave. We work across Romford and the surrounding RM postcodes, including Gidea Park, Collier Row, Harold Wood, Harold Hill, Hornchurch, Upminster and Rush Green.
Regular, deep or end of tenancy: which clean do you need?
The room is the same in each case. What changes is how far into it we go.
- Regular clean: maintenance. Surfaces, floors, kitchen and bathroom kept on top of, visit after visit, in the order of your priorities.
- Deep clean: a reset. Built-up grease, limescale, dust on skirting and behind furniture, the jobs a weekly visit doesn’t reach.
- End of tenancy: a deep clean of an empty property, carried out against the inventory or the agent’s cleaning requirements.
- Move-in clean: a thorough clean before your boxes arrive, while cupboards and floors are still clear.
If your home hasn’t had a proper clean in months, start with a deep clean and then move to regular visits. The first regular visit to a neglected home can’t do both jobs in the time.
What’s included in a regular clean
A regular cleaning visit follows a priorities list we agree with you at the start. If time is tight on a given week, we follow your order and do the most important rooms first.
Kitchen
- Wipe worktops, splashbacks and cupboard fronts, paying attention to handles
- Clean the hob surface and the outside of the oven, microwave, fridge and dishwasher
- Clean and polish the sink, taps and draining board
- Wipe light switches and sockets
- Empty bins and wipe the lids
- Vacuum and mop the floor
Bathroom and toilet
- Clean the toilet inside and out, including the base and behind the seat hinges
- Clean the bath, shower tray, basin and taps
- Wipe the shower screen and tiles to keep limescale and soap scum down
- Polish mirrors and chrome
- Vacuum and mop the floor
Living rooms and bedrooms
- Dust reachable surfaces, shelves, sills and skirting
- Wipe fingerprints from doors, frames and switches
- Vacuum carpets and rugs, and mop hard floors
- Make beds or change linen if you leave fresh sheets out
- Tidy surfaces lightly. We don’t sort paperwork or put away personal items.
Hallways and stairs
- Vacuum stairs and landings, including the edges where dust collects
- Wipe banisters and the inside of the front door
Deep cleaning checklist: what we add
A deep clean covers everything above, plus the detail work that builds up over time. Moving furniture, clearing cupboards and getting into corners is what takes the extra hours.
Kitchen deep clean
- Degrease the extractor hood and soak or wipe the filters
- Wipe cupboard interiors (please empty them first)
- Clean the tops of wall units, which are usually furred with sticky dust
- Pull out free-standing appliances where it’s safe to, and clean behind and beneath them
- Descale taps and work around the sink seal
- Wash the fridge interior if it’s been emptied
Bathroom deep clean
- Treat limescale on shower screens, heads, taps and tiles
- Scrub grout lines and silicone edges as far as cleaning allows
- Clean the extractor fan cover, radiator or towel rail, and behind the toilet
- Wipe the bath panel and the cabinet interiors
Mould deep in silicone or grout is often staining under the surface. We’ll improve it, but resealing or regrouting is a repair job, and we’ll tell you that honestly.
Throughout the home
- Wipe skirting boards, door frames and doors on both sides
- Clean light fittings and lampshades within safe reach
- Dust radiators, including the fins where we can get to them
- Vacuum under beds and sofas, and along the edges of carpets
- Clean the inside of windows and sills, and wipe down window tracks
End of tenancy checklist: what letting agents look for
Inventory clerks in Romford and Hornchurch check the same places again and again: the oven, the extractor, limescale in the bathroom, inside the kitchen cupboards and the tops of the doors. Our end of tenancy cleaning follows a room-by-room list based on your check-in inventory or the agent’s cleaning requirements. Send us either one when you ask for a quote.
On top of the deep clean list, a typical tenancy clean includes:
- Cleaning the inside of every cupboard, drawer and wardrobe
- Cleaning the inside of the fridge and freezer (switch the freezer off and defrost it the day before)
- Wiping the inside of window frames, sills and tracks
- Wiping switches, sockets and door handles throughout
- Cleaning the inside of the washing machine drawer and the door seal
- Removing cobwebs from ceilings and corners
- A final vacuum and mop once everything above floor level is done
Cleaning can’t fix wear and tear, scuffed paintwork, burns or carpet damage, and no cleaner can guarantee your deposit. What we can do is leave the property clean against the inventory, so cleanliness isn’t the reason for a deduction. If an agent flags something that was on our agreed list, contact us promptly and we’ll arrange to put it right. We’ll confirm how that works when you book.
Move-in checklist: clean it while it’s empty
An empty home is the easiest one to clean properly. Once the sofa and the boxes arrive, the skirting behind them won’t be seen again for years.
- Wipe every cupboard and drawer before you fill them
- Sanitise the kitchen and bathroom surfaces you’ll use first
- Wash the fridge interior before your food goes in
- Vacuum and mop all floors, including inside fitted wardrobes
- Wipe switches, handles and the front door
If you’re moving within Romford, many customers book the move-out clean at the old address and the move-in clean at the new one for the same week.
Extras we quote separately
These aren’t part of a routine visit. They need extra time, equipment or products, so we agree them in advance:
- Oven interiors, racks and trays
- Carpet and rug extraction cleaning (allow several hours of drying time, and longer in cold weather with the heating off)
- Upholstery and mattress cleaning
- External windows and high-level work
- Balconies, garages and outbuildings
- After-builders’ dust, which settles again for days if you just vacuum it and needs repeated passes on every surface
Mention any of these when you ask for your quote and we’ll include them in the agreed price.
Recommended pre-clean tasks
A few things done before we arrive mean more of our time goes on cleaning:
- Clear the surfaces. We clean around ornaments, but cleared worktops and shelves get a better result.
- Empty the cupboards you want cleaned inside, and the fridge and freezer for a tenancy clean.
- Pick up toys, clothes and anything on the floor, so we can get into the corners.
- Tell us about delicate surfaces: marble, oak worktops, unsealed stone, specialist flooring or anything with care instructions.
- Let us know about pets and allergies, and whether you’d like eco-friendly products. We check they’re suitable for each surface.
- Sort out access. Keys, a key safe code, a concierge or a neighbour holding keys: we’ll agree arrangements before the day.
- Make sure hot water and power are on, especially in an empty rental.
We bring our own supplies and equipment unless we’ve agreed otherwise.
Common questions about our checklists
Can I change the checklist on a regular clean?
Yes. Your priorities list isn’t fixed. Tell us if you’d like the bathroom done first or the ironing swapped for the windows, and we’ll adjust it within the agreed visit time.
How long does a deep clean take?
It depends on the size of the property, how much needs moving and the condition of the kitchen and bathroom. A photo or two of the oven, the shower and the hob helps us estimate the time accurately.
Do you use the agent’s own checklist for end of tenancy cleans?
Yes, if there is one. Otherwise, send the check-in inventory and we’ll work from that.
Can you clean if I’m still living there?
Yes, but an empty property gets a more complete clean. If you’re mid-move, it’s better to book the clean after the furniture has gone.
Get a quote built around your checklist
